We are thrilled to announce that our client, Melton Foods (Samworth Brothers) are a finalist for the Waste Not Want Not category in the Grocer Gold Awards. The category includes some of the biggest names in the FMCG industry including Tesco, Aldi and Asda.
The Waste Not Want Not award has been introduced in support of the major food waste campaign launched by The Grocer. It’s open to retailers and suppliers whose pioneering and innovative approaches and/or exhaustive investigation of their own supply chain has delivered the most compelling results.
“The team at Melton Foods are delighted to be shortlisted in the Waste Not Want Not category this year. To be mentioned in the same shortlist as the big brands here is an enormous accolade. We are honoured to be the only Food Manufacturer within our category and thrilled to see Cultivate, our transformational sustainability programme, recognised. More than just a box ticking waste programme, Cultivate not only delivers best practice resource management, but excels, offering added value in staff engagement, community outreach and supplier and customer collaboration.” ~ Colin Wright, Hygiene Manager at Melton Foods.
Launched in June 2015, Melton’s ‘Cultivate’ programme was borne out of a desire for the food-to-go manufacturer and its customers to ‘do more with less’, by improving efficiencies and transforming its approach to waste management. Having already achieved zero waste to landfill, Melton Foods was keen to explore how it could further reduce its environmental impact and have a positive effect on local communities.
The highly coveted awards ceremony is being held at the Guildhall, London on the 13th of June 2017. Hopefully we can add another trophy to the Melton Foods award cabinet.
